1.1 PRODUCTS NOT INCLUDED

- Silicone grease to be acquired separately
- Fischer rawlplugs with minimum 6-mm screws to be acquired separately.
- 30-mm (or 32-mm) washers to be acquired separately.
- Fine binding element or chemical anchoring element in cartridge form or two-part epoxy resin to be acquired separately according to the type of fitting.

2.0 EXTRACTION AND GREASING OF THE CARTRIDGE BEARING

Greasing combats oxidisation of parts and over time facilitates the extraction and insertion of the cartridge bearing from and into the tube for ordinary maintenance (e.g., cleaning and greasing bearings) and extraordinary maintenance (e.g. substitution of worn bearings). As a consequence, this step is extremely important.

2.1 EXTRACT THE CARTRIDGE FROM THE HOUSING TUBE

Using the 5-mm Allen key supplied, unscrew and remove the four cartridge locking screws.
Image
Take the two M5 screws supplied and screw them half-way into the relative threaded holes on the top of the cartridge.
Image
Grip the two M5 screws and pull upwards, while turning the cartridge clockwise and anti-clockwise until it has been removed from the housing tube. The cartridge may be momentarily difficult to remove. This is normal.

2.2 GREASE THE OUTSIDE OF THE CARTRIDGE AND THE INSIDE OF THE CARTRIDGE HOUSING TUBE

1° Take the silicone grease and, using your fingers, grease the inside of the housing tube, making sure above all that the bottom and sides of the housing tube that come into contact with the cartridge are greased.
This operation is extremely important in order to prevent any water in the cement leaking into the cartridge and will also facilitate removal of the cartridge bearing for maintenance.
ATTENTION: DO NOT APPLY GREASE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSING TUBE.

Apply silicone grease to the outside of the cartridge.

3.0 INSTALLING THE CARTRIDGE IN THE FLOOR

Installation must be carried out by qualified expert personnel.
Carefully read and follow all the instructions step by step.
Before installing, make sure that the characteristics of the floor are suited to the method of fitting.
Before installing, make sure that there are no water, heating or electricity conduits underneath the installation point.
Work with care, using quality materials and tools.

3.1 DRILL A HOLE IN THE FLOOR

The depth of the hole is dictated by the end result desired.

IMPORTANT! If the depth of the paving material is less that the depth of the hole, it is FUNDAMENTAL that the layer of gravel beneath is stabilised with epoxy resin or cement in order to provide a SOLID BASE and a STURDY PERIMETER that is even for the entire depth of the hole.

Follow point 3.1.1 to install the cartridge flush with the floor.
Follow point 3.1.2 to install the cartridge with a cap.

3.1.1 INSTALLING THE CARTRIDGE FLUSH WITH THE FLOOR

Drill a hole in the chosen position with a diamond hollow drill or core drill of 150 mm (6 inches = 152.4 mm) in diameter.
The hole must be 150 mm in diameter and 130 mm deep.
It is presumed that the floor is perfectly flat and that the finished hole is at right angles to the floor.

REMEMBER:
In the event of an uneven and unstable gravel foundation: DO NOT PROCEED without stabilising!
Foundation well stabilised with resin or cement: CONTINUE with the following steps.

3.1.2 INSTALLING THE CARTRIDGE WITH A CAP

Drill a hole in the chosen position with a diamond hollow drill or core drill of 150 mm (6 inches = 152.4 mm) in diameter.
The hole must be 150 mm in diameter, and the depth must be 130 mm plus the thickness of the cap (calculate the overall depth carefully).
The cap must be 82 mm in diameter, equal to the cartridge, or 150 cm, equal to the hole.
It is presumed that the floor is perfectly flat and that the finished hole is at right angles to the floor.
The cap will hide the cartridge from sight and avoid tripping when the equipment is not in use.

REMEMBER:
In the event of an uneven and unstable gravel foundation: DO NOT PROCEED without stabilising!
Foundation well stabilised with resin or cement: CONTINUE with the following steps.

4.0 FITTING THE CARTRIDGE INTO POSITION

One of the following products is recommended in order to fix the cartridge into the hole:

- Fine binding element.
- Chemical anchoring element in cartridge form.
- Two-part epoxy resin.

Make sure before fitting the tube in place that the content of the cartridge/bottle/bag of chosen element is sufficient to complete the operation.

Furthermore, assess the hardening time required for the chosen product and the maximum thickness of coating recommended by the manufacturer, and carry out the following steps accordingly.

4.1 CAREFULLY SEAL THE UPPER END OF THE HOUSING TUBE

It is fundamental that the product used to fill the hole does not in any way enter the cartridge or the tube. In order to avoid this happening, thus avoiding any consequential damage to the product, it is necessary to carefully seal the upper end of the tube with sealing tape before pouring the product into the hole.
The bottom end of the tube is already sealed and requires no further intervention.

4.2 INSERT THE HOUSING TUBE INTO THE HOLE

This operation is extremely important. If the cartridge is crooked when fitted it will not be possible to remove it and straighten it.

Insert the housing tube into the hole and screw it into the floor using the washers and screws. The screws are necessary to keep the housing tube still and in position while the fixing product is poured into the outside area.

Image

4.3 LEVEL THE HOUSING TUBE

The housing tube must be installed perfectly straight, otherwise the pole will not turn properly and problems with installation will be experienced.

Check that the tube is upright in all directions.

Image

4.4 POUR IN THE FIXING AGENT OR EPOXY RESIN AS REQUIRED

Pour in the fixing agent (or epoxy resin, recommended in the event that ground is not solid).
The fixing agent must be poured outside of the housing tube, paying attention that no fixing agent enters the cartridge.

Fill the hole up to the lip of the cartridge with fixing agent and allow it to harden completely.

Image

5.0 INSERTING THE CARTRIDGE BEARING INTO THE HOUSING TUBE

Before proceeding, make sure that the fixing agent has hardened completely.

Remove the tape from the top of the housing tube.
Grip the cartridge bearing via the M5 screws and insert it into the housing tube, positioning it correctly by aligning the holes.
When the holes are aligned, unscrew the M5 screws and remove them completely.

5.2 TIGHTEN THE LOCKING SCREWS

Using the 5-mm Allen key supplied, tighten the four M6 cartridge locking screws.

6.0 MAINTENANCE

6.1 Cleaning the pole
GeckoGrip Pole: plain alcohol (preferably isopropyl) on a microfibre cloth.
Stainless Steel Pole: water and ammonia (5%) on a microfibre cloth.
Ultragrip2 Pole: MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) on a lint-free cotton cloth
While cleaning use personal protective equipment. It is advisable to ventilate the area after cleaning the pole.
6.2 Lubricating the bearings
The operation can be carried out in complete autonomy (write to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for video instructions).
The frequency of lubrication depends on the frequency of use of the pole and the level of cleanliness of the area. If no particular requirement emerges and the pole is used occasionally, yearly lubricating is necessary. In the event of more intense use, contact our Technical Support Service.
