4.0 FLOOR DISC INSTALLATION

- The Yacht pole requires the possibility of recessing or screwing a disc with a diameter of 11 cm and a thickness of 8 mm into the floor.
- The disc must be housed in a 110 mm diameter hole, to be made in the floor covering (tile, parquet, linoleum, dance flooring ecc...). If you do not have a 110 mm hole saw, you can use a 120 mm one, keeping in mind that the hole will be slightly larger than the diameter of the disc and therefore a small empty space will remain around it.

Image

- The thickness of the disc generally does not exceed the thickness of the floor covering; once installed, the disc will therefore remain flush with the floor, leaving only a few small slots exposed. If the hole is deeper than the thickness of the disc, level the bottom using suitable systems (cement, epoxy resin, spacers, shims, etc...).
- Alternatively, the disc can be recessed deeper, to a depth equal to the 8 mm thickness of the disc plus the thickness of the floor covering. This solution allows the disc to be covered when the pole is not installed, using a cap made from the same material as the floor covering, obtaining a perfectly smooth and uniform surface.
- The disc must be fixed in place using three 6 mm nylon plugs and the corresponding 3.5/4 x 50 chipboard screws (not included). Before drilling, check for the possible presence of underfloor heating. Alternatively, mechanical anchors with M5-M6 countersunk metric screws can be used.

Image

4.1 IDENTIFY THE INSTALLATION POINT AND PREPARE THE DISC HOUSING

1° Mark the exact installation point of the pole on the ceiling. This must correspond to the point where the height indicated at the time of the order was measured. If you do not remember the exact position, measure the ceiling height again until you identify the point corresponding to the measurement stated in the order.
2° Using a plumb line (not included), identify on the floor the point corresponding to the point marked on the ceiling: this will be the exact centre where the disc must be installed.
3° Using the marked point as the centre, make a hole in the floor with the required depth according to the intended type of installation.

Image
Image

4.3 POSITION THE DISC AND MARK THE HOLES

1° Insert the disc into the hole made in the floor.
2° Using the three holes on the disc as a reference, mark on the floor the points where the fixing holes must be drilled.
Image
Image

4.4 DRILL THE FLOOR AND INSERT THE ANCHORS

1° Remove the disc and drill the three holes in the marked points.
2° Insert the 6 mm nylon plugs into the holes.
Image
Image

4.5 FIX THE DISC TO THE FLOOR

1° Reposition the disc in the hole, aligning the holes of the disc with the anchors inserted into the floor.
2° Fix the disc with three 3.5/4 x 50 chipboard screws. Tighten the screws until the disc is firmly locked in place.

As an alternative to nylon plugs, mechanical anchors with M5-M6 countersunk metric screws can also be used, to be selected according to the composition of the floor.

In case of doubt about correct installation or the choice of anchors, contact qualified personnel.

5.0 INSTALLATION OF THE UPPER CUP WITH SCREWS

Screws and anchors for installing the cup are not included with the product, as they must be selected according to the type and composition of the ceiling.

WARNING! The ceiling fixing point must be structurally suitable and able to withstand transverse forces. Do not install on plasterboard, thin wood panelling or suspended ceilings. If installation is carried out under a beam, make sure that the beam is wider than 11 cm.

Image
To fix the upper cup to a load-bearing ceiling or reinforced concrete ceiling, use 3 metal mechanical anchors or chemical anchors with M6 metric screw. DO NOT USE nylon plugs with chipboard screws.
Image
For installation on wooden beams or wooden ceilings, use at least 3 chipboard screws of 6 mm. Alternatively, 6 smaller screws, with a minimum diameter of 4.5 mm, can be used by using all the available holes of the cup. DO NOT USE small screws in a number lower than 6.
Image
For installation on IPE180 beams, use 4 M6 metric screws with the corresponding nuts.
The upper cup is also compatible with installation on 30 cm and 40 cm truss plates.
Image

5.1 MARK THE HOLE POINTS

1° The upper cup of the Yacht pole has a central hole. Position the cup on the ceiling and align the central hole with the installation point marked previously.
2° Once the cup is centred, use the holes on the cup as a reference and mark on the ceiling the points where the fixing holes must be drilled.

Image

5.2 DRILL THE HOLES AND INSERT THE ANCHORS

12.0 MAINTENANCE

12.1 It is recommended to disassemble the pole at least 1-2 times a year to carry out thorough cleaning and check the good condition of all components. During the check, make sure that all elements insert and fit together correctly and without difficulty. Pay particular attention to the internal components: any moisture inside the pole may cause oxidation around the joint, pin or other metal elements.
In case of anomalies, assembly difficulties or incorrect operation of one or more elements, contact our Technical Support Service.
12.2 Pole cleaning
GeckoGrip pole: isopropyl alcohol on a microfibre cloth.
Inox pole: water and ammonia (5%) on a microfibre cloth.

14.0 TROUBLESHOOTING

14.1 THE QUICKSPIN™ SELECTOR FALLS AND DOES NOT REMAIN IN SPIN OR STATIC POSITION
If the QuickSpin™ selector does not remain in the selected position and tends to fall, the black slotted screw may have lost its calibration. The screw is visible through the hole on the outer diameter of the QuickSpin™ selector (see point 8.2).
The screw is calibrated at the factory and held in position with medium-strength threadlocker. Following tampering or, over time, due to vibrations, the threadlocker may lose its effectiveness and allow the screw to move from the factory position.
To prevent the screw from moving again, it is first necessary to lock it in position and then proceed with the selector calibration.
LOCKING THE SCREW:
1° Using a suitably sized flat-head screwdriver, fully unscrew the screw and remove it from the hole.
2° Wrap the screw with 3-4 turns of PTFE tape, Teflon, commonly used in plumbing for sealing fittings.
3°  Reinsert the screw into the hole and screw it in completely until it stops.
CALIBRATING THE QUICKSPIN™ SELECTOR:
1° After screwing the screw in completely until it stops, unscrew it by half a turn.
2° Check the movement of the QuickSpin™ selector.
3° If the movement is still too stiff, unscrew the screw further by 1/4 turn at a time, until the selector moves correctly.
The calibration is correctly restored when the selector can be moved easily between the SPIN and STATIC positions and remains stable in the selected position.
14.2
THE QUICKSPIN™ IS LOCKED
Check that the optional locking screw is not inserted and that the slotted screw has NOT been touched (see point 8.2) If the optional screw is not inserted, the locking of the QuickSpin™ may be due to the loss of correct calibration of the slotted screw. In this case, restore the calibration as described in point 14.1.
14.3 GECKOGRIP AND INOX POLES ARE MORE SLIPPERY THAN OTHER INSTALLATIONS
Clean the poles as described in point 12.2.
If the problem persists, check other aspects: outdoor environment too humid, sweating, etc. If a conformity defect is suspected, contact customer service within the terms established by the conditions of sale.
